Science World

Science World is a great destination for all ages. It is located at the eastern end of the False Creek walk, and you'll know it when you see it because it looks like a huge golf ball! The displays change from time to time, and there are ongoing live science demonstrations. Inside you'll find the Weyerhauser Science Theatre and the OMNIMAX theatre. Hours, rates, information.

H.R. MacMillan Space Centre

The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is located on the beautiful Vanier Park walk on the south side of False Creek - it is open Tuesday - Sunday, plus holidays. It is a top attraction in Vancouver, and especially good for families. The Planetarium is the main part of the Centre. Exhibits and shows range from the seriously scientific to the fun of dazzling laser shows. Recommended. Hours, rates, information, map.

Vancouver Aquarium

The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre is located in Stanley Park, and open every day of the year. It has many exhibits that are both interesting and educational. The Aquarium is part of the Stanley Park Walk. Recommended. Hours, rates, information.

Museum of Anthropology

The Museum of Anthropology is located at the University of British Columbia. "Anthropology is the study of peoples of the world and how they organize and express human experience." The Museum houses approximately 35,000 ethnological objects and 200,000 archaeological objects. According to their website, "While most museums display less than five percent of their collections, the Museum of Anthropology presents more than forty percent for visitors to discover and enjoy." Before you see the exhibits in person, see the website which offers a virtual tour with 360 degree views. If you wish to take photos inside the museum, they request you obtain permission first. Metrotown Centre

Metrotown Centre is the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the province, with over 500 stores and services, 22 cinemas, an entertainment centre, and restaurants in two centres: Station Square and Metropolis at Metrotown. It is located at 4800 Kingsway, in Burnaby. Lots of parking, or go there directly on public transit, using the Skytrain. Bring lots of cash!
